One of a Kind Projects

While most of our business is printing and embroidering clothing for organizations and other businesses, we still love those occasional projects that are very unique and often very personal. Whether for business or personal use, one-of-a-kind items are like an original work of art, often with special meaning.

Embroidered poker table

Poker Table

One of our more ambitious projects was to embroider this portable poker table. What you see in the above photo is just one tenth of the ten-seat table. It took a lot of planning to design and set this up to make a well-balanced tournament table. One challenge was to design the table so that as the dealer tossed cards, they would not strike an embroidered spot and flip over. Embroidering around the perimeter of the table solved that. Previously, tables had been screen-printed with logos in the center, and after awhile, tossed cards gradually wore it down, disintegrating the printed logo. The embroidery method also placed a logo in front of each player, easier to see, a marketing plus.

The Funeral Blanket

One of the most unusual and meaningful projects we've done was a funeral blanket. The occasion was the funeral of a grandmother who was nearly 100 years old when she died. The blanket with her name on it included the names of all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. When finished, the blanket contained over 100 names. It was meant to be very honorable and respectful of the woman's life, and it offered a very healing message to those who attended the funeral and saw her cloaked in it. All of her family embraced her in death as they had embraced her in life.

The Family Tree

Another project was an afghan quilt rendered in the form of a family tree. It started off as a blank tree with grandma and grandpa as the trunk from which the generations grew. As the tree sprouted limbs in the form of offspring, those names were added to the tree. When a new child was born in the family, the blanket would be returned for embroidery. A keepsake like this can be handed down from generation to generation, carrying on the tradition and keeping a visual history of the growing family.

The Memory Pillow

Then there was the woman who'd survived a six-way bypass operation on her heart. She had been given a heart-shaped pillow from, appropriately enough, Sacred Heart Medical Center. She wanted it embroidered with the names of the many people who had helped her during her medical odyssey. It became a pillow of thanks, a reminder to her of the surgery team, the rehab team, her minister and church family, her children and blood family, and so on. She also wanted the date of her surgery along with some scripture thanking Jesus for letting her stay alive.

Special projects like these take even greater care than normal. There is zero tolerance for errors, particularly if the material to be embroidered on cannot be replaced, like the pillow given to our client. The project must be carefully planned out on paper to judge how it will look stitched out. Often what people see in their minds doesn't work in the reality of the embroidery shop, so great care needs to be taken in the planning process so the customer knows exactly what she's getting.

Word Art magnet

Word Art

Embroidery is a wonderful medium for memorializing your favorite sayings, affirmations, or poetry. We've embroidered words of wisdom or comfort, then mounted and framed them as works of art. These make especially wonderful keepsake gifts because they contain so much thought and personal meaning.

Teddy Bears

We've also embroidered clothes for teddy bears. What? You read right. We made embroidered sweats for teddy bears with their owner's (child's) name embroidered on them. Personalized uniforms for stuffed animals created a comforting, spirit-building toy or a fun gift--for adults, too. We once made a chef outfit for a teddy bear given to a real-life chef. It was a great conversation piece and decorator item.

If you have any fun ideas for an embroidered gift or something unique for your business, give us a call. We'd be happy to discuss one-of-a-kind projects.
